Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, restrictions mean we can no longer meet in groups; play music in venues; or sing collectively. This Christmas could be different but at Deafblind Scotland we feel there is more we can do together to bring a bit of joy to everyone’s festive season through our ‘Keeping the Spirit of Christmas Alive’ campaign. Supporting this campaign through fundraising to make a deafblind person’s Christmas less isolated would be one way that you could join us in making this Christmas memorable for all the right reasons.
We celebrated a major milestone in Scotland this year with the 5th anniversary of the British Sign Language (Scotland) Act 2015 which makes it clear that communication and human interaction need to be a right for everyone not a privilege as is often the case for deafblind people. With this in mind, we have focused this year’s celebrations around showing support for BSL through learning to sign ‘Jingle Bells’.
You can join us in this collective effort to ‘Keep the Spirit of Christmas Alive’ by brightening your friends and family’s festive season and of course have some fun along the way.
