We offer a number of activities for members at our Learning & Development Centre in Kirkintilloch. All activities are free to attend so why not come along, meet new people and have some fun.

The weekly classes start the week beginning 29th April and run through to the week beginning 17th June.
Please note DBS Development Centre is closed on Bank Holiday Monday 27th May.
Monday Mornings 10am – 12noon

Social Club & Games – Meet-up-Monday. Pop along for a cuppa and chat with your friends. You will be welcome to make use of the tactile games: Scrabble, Chess, Cards, Domino’s, Boggle and more.
Taiko Drumming – Whether you have had experience playing the drums or not we would love to welcome you to the Taiko Tribe. Over 8 weeks learn how to play the rhythms of the Taiko drums. You will also get t explore the culture and tastes of Japan. This class is a full sensory experience and love by those who attended last year.
Monday Afternoons 2pm – 4pm
Scrabble Club – Enjoy the classic word game of scrabble. From beginners to experienced gamers looking to compete against one another – all are welcome. We have one braille board and two large print boards to enjoy.
Tuesday Afternoons 2pm – 4pm
Drama – Learn techniques to increase confidence and build friendships. Guaranteed laughs through fun drama games and activities.
Wednesday Mornings 10am – 12noon
Good Food Good Mood – Be led through a practical guide to learning healthy recipes. The course will begin by promoting good mental and physical wellbeing through 2 weeks of yoga followed by 6 weeks of healthy cooking.
Thursday Mornings 10am – 12noon
Knitting and Crocheting – All abilities of knitters welcome from beginners through to experienced. Working towards knitting projects for Deafblind Scotland.
Walking Group – Paths for All lead a walking group around the Kirkintilloch area. Each walk lasts around 1 hour 15 mins and covers roughly 2 – 3 miles. Each month the walk leaves from a different location around Kirkintilloch.

Friday Mornings 10.30am – 12.15pm
Carpet Bowls 10th, 24th May and 21st June – All abilities are welcome to learn the skills of bowling and work up to competing in a mini tournament.
Karate 3rd May and 7th June – An introduction to Karate training with techniques and physical exercises for all abilities. You will learn new skills, improve confidence and experience some traditional etiquette and discipline.
Positivity Café 5th June 10.30am – 12noon – Find out ways to look after your own Mental Health by practising positivity. Meet new people and be led through discussion over tea and cake.
Bingo 7th May & 9th July 10.30am – 12noon – Accessible bingo with prizes to be won.
Out and About
BBC Tour Saturday 18th May 1.15pm – 3pm – A tour of BBC Scotland’s headquarters on the banks of the River Clyde. Find out how programmes are made and see inside some of the studios. Just for fun, you will get the chance to try out some hands-on activities. Transport available.
Loch Lomond Walking Trip Friday 2nd August 11am – 3pm – Join us for our annual trip to Loch Lomond visitors centre in Balmaha. All level of walkers welcome so you can enjoy a gentle stroll around Balmaha or tackle one of the more challenging walks. Transport available.
